Case Study
For an independent tobacco manufacturer, we implemented an MRP system that identifies material needs, estimates required quantities, determines availability timelines, and manages lead times to ensure production schedules are met and productivity enhanced.
Case Study
For an independent tobacco manufacturer, we implemented an MRP system that identifies material needs, estimates required quantities, determines availability timelines, and manages lead times to ensure production schedules are met and productivity enhanced.
Background
The client aimed to replace the existing ERP system to address the evolving business requirements and optimize the procurement and supply of raw materials and semi-finished products for production. After conducting a market analysis, the client decided to invest in a custom-developed solution instead of adopting an off-the-shelf system, ensuring a better fit for their specific operational needs.
Solution
Based on our software platform and its synchronization modules, we integrated the client’s ERP system, WMS, Siemens Preactor, and Customer Order Management System. By consolidating all necessary data in one place, we implemented an incremental supply planning algorithm aligned with the production schedule and customer orders. This algorithm automatically generates purchase orders and updates the Preactor schedule in real time.
Challenges
- Complex and frequently changing client requirements
- Custom algorithms to ensure the supply and production of semi-finished products
- Synchronization with legacy InterBase systems
- Data integration and synchronization with Siemens Preactor
Effects
- Optimized budget management for securing raw material supplies
- Greater flexibility in daily operational decisions through multiple supply algorithms
- Improved user experience for procurement department staff
- Enhanced system scalability, enabling easy implementation of new supply algorithms
